The Redoubt Road dynamic lane and pedestrian improvements has enjoyed a successful first week of operation two years since it’s inception. Edin, along with Aurecon, have been supporting the amazing Auckland Transport team in delivery of the project which has been a company highlight. Early indications show the project is achieving strong travel time savings and members of the public are demonstrating a good understanding of the operation. The scheme involves a new dynamic lane configuration with a combined mid block signalised crossing. The project has built on the experience gained in the earlier Whangaparaoa Road Dynamic Lane.
The innovative nature of the scheme has required strong leadership and problem solving from the combined working group which has been led by Miguel Menezes, AT Network Optimisation Technical Lead and supported by the key working group of Richard Firth, Peter Millington and Sam Stephenson. Construction contractors, CSLI, have been excellent in delivery and demonstrated a flexible approach to problem solving. The whole project team have been excellent to work with and have demonstrated strong collaboration and ownership in solving challenges and delivering an excellent project. It has been a great two years and so rewarding to see a strong improvement for bus passengers, pedestrians and general vehicle users. We hope to be able to continue to work with AT in delivering future dynamic lane projects.
